Patients not turning up for hospital appointments are costing the health service nearly £20,000 a day.
Between June last year and June this year, a total of 880,864 outpatient consultations were made at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General or Glenfield hospital.
Out of these, 63,063 people failed to show up – an average of nearly 300 patients a day.
It is estimated the no-shows resulted in more than £5 million being wasted.
