A midwife who has welcomed hundreds of little lives into the world is hanging up her stethoscope - but only for a while.
Marian Parrish has been a midwife at Leicester General Hospital for 32 years but today she will mark her 55th birthday with retirement from the job she loves.
She has enjoyed it so much the New Year will see her "back on the ward" for two shifts a week.
