Hospital managers are appealing to people to back a campaign to make Christmas special for elderly patients.
Leicester's hospitals are working with Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland to donate gifts for patients who are too ill to leave hospital over Christmas.
Last year, nearly 1,000 gifts were donated by well wishers.
