Health bosses are concerned that some people may be being discharged from hospital too early.
It follows a climb in the number of patients re-admitted to the city's hospitals within 30 days of previously being discharged.
In a report to the directors of Leicester's hospitals chief executive John Adler said: "Re-admissions are a significant issue for us and for our patients."We have a falling length of stay but our-readmission rates are getting higher."
