I'm pleased to report that a Second World War veteran from Leicester has been awarded France's highest decoration for military conduct.Born in 1925, George Roy Kirk, also known as Bill, lived with his parents, George and Annie, on Alma Street, Newfoundpool.At the start of the war, Bill's parents gave a home to two London evacuees who had fled from the bombing.
